Established in 1974, ASKAYNAK became the exclusive distributor of Lincoln Electric's welding machinery and equipment in 1992. In 1998, this relationship became a fully-fledged partnership with the acquisition of a 50 % shareholding in the Company by Lincoln Electric. The LINCOLN ELECTRIC Co. is the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of arc welding products, robotic welding systems, plasma and oxy-fuel cutting equipments. Lincoln Electric has its manufacturing operations, joint-ventures and alliances in 18 countries, and a worldwide network of distributors and sales offices covering more than 160 countries.
ASKAYNAK has also built up a substantial export network, with exports to more than 40 countries. The Company's main export markets include Europe, the Middle East, Africa, S. America, Russia and CIS Countries and the Far East.
ASKAYNAK has a production capacity up to 36.000 mtons of welding electrodes, 3.500 mtons of submerged arc welding wires and 25.000 mtons of MIG/MAG welding wires annually. ASKAYNAK distributes these products through a network of 600 authorized dealerships throughout Turkey.
The plant and the head-office are located in Gebze an industry-intensive area of Kocaeli, set on 40.000 sqm of land. ASKAYNAK has about 300 employees.
Kaynak Teknigi has been manufacturing "ASKAYNAK" and "KOBATEK" branded welding electrodes and wires. In addition to that, the company has been performing the sales of "LINCOLN ELECTRIC" branded welding wires, electrodes, welding machines and generators as well as stainless steel MIG/TIG wires, flux-cored wires, carbon electrodes, and tungsten electrodes for TIG welding process under its own registered brandname of "STARWELD".
The major application areas of "ASKAYNAK" branded MIG/MAG wires, SAW wires, stick electrodes and "STARWELD" branded stainless steel MIG/TIG wires are industrial production and construction. "KOBATEK" branded products are used in protective repair and maintenance welding applications. "LINCOLN ELECTRIC" products are used in both application areas.
"ASKAYNAK" offers complete solutions by providing a broad range of high performance, superior quality and cost-effective coated electrodes specially designed to meet different welding requirement. "ASKAYNAK" welding wires provide excellent weldability and superior mechanical properties due to a consistent chemical composition, optimum feedability and a smooth, stable arc. "KOBATEK" products provide the customer with the most complete and advance product range available. By increasing the wear resistance, "KOBATEK" products help to reduce maintenance periods and spare parts inventories. By providing total solutions with an outstanding welding performance, "KOBATEK" product range also minimizes production losses and increases plant efficiency.
"ASKAYNAK" is a leader in Turkey's welding electrode and wire exports. It exports these products to more than 40 countries around the world and accounts for half of all welding consumable exports from Turkey. In 2005, the Company increased significantly its exports to markets in the Balkans, the Middle East, Caucasus, North Africa, Russia and Western Europe.
ASKAYNAK was the first manufacturer of welding consumables in Turkey to receive "ISO 9001" certification, one of the most comprehensive and prestigious international standards for quality systems from RWTÜV in June 1995. This certification was a significant corporate milestone illustrating ASKAYNAK's overall commitment to superior quality and to enhance her operational productivity and efficiency. ASKAYNAK's strong position in the Turkish market is underpinned by its strong reputation for quality.
In 1999, the Company received the prestigious "TÜSÝAD-KalDer Quality Award" for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises. International standards including EN, AWS and ISO are used in the production and testing of "ASKAYNAK" products. "ASKAYNAK" products have been approved by leading international certification bodies, including : Rheinish-Westfalischer Technischen Überwachungs Vereine (RWTÜV), Deutsche Bahn (DB), Russian GOST, SEPRO (Ukrain), NAKS, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Bureau Veritas (BV), Lloyd's Register of Shipping (LRS), Germanischer Lloyd (GL), Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

1982 The Askaynak submerged arc welding wire production has been started as one line.
1985 The Askaynak MIG/MAG wire production has been started as one line.
1987 The Askaynak MIG/MAG wire production has been increased to two lines.
1992 The distributorship agreement which starts the sales of Lincoln Electric branded welding machines, welding generators and plasma cutting devices in the domestic market, has been signed with The Lincoln Electric Co.
1992 The revision of Askaynak MIG/MAG wire production line resulting in an increase of capacity from 600 ton/year to 1.000 ton/year.
1993 The production of Kobatek electrodes has been started.
1994 The installation of new high-tech machines in the MIG/MAG welding wire production line.
1995 The production of Lincoln Electric branded MIG/MAG welding wires has been started.
1996 The renewal of the machines in the Askaynak submerged arc welding wire production lines resulting in 2500 ton/yr production capacity in four shifts.
1998 The joint-venture agreement has been signed between Eczacýbaþý and The Lincoln Electric Co.
2000 The increase of the number of new high-tech machines to twelve units which are used in the MIG/MAG welding wire production.
2000 The launching of Askaynak branded welding machines.
2000 The launching of Kobatek branded aluminium MIG wires and TIG rodes to the domestic market.
2001 The launching of Focusweld branded MIG/MAG welding spray to the domestic market.
2001 The launching of Starweld branded MIG wires and TIG rodes to the domestic market.
2002 The launching of Starweld branded tungsten electrodes for TIG welding to the domestic market.
2003 The sales of Starweld branded flux-cored wires has been started.
2005 The launching of Expressweld branded inverter type welding machine (for stick electrodes) to the domestic market.
2007 The launching of Focusweld branded "Auto Darkening Welding Helmets" to the domestic market.
2007 New manufacturing plant opened in Gebze, Þekerpýnar (19 November 2007).
